A judge has set bail for the 8 teens in the MySpace beating video. Bail ranges from $30,000 - $37,000 for each teen. They were also ordered;

  • to stay away from their high school
  • to stay away from Internet social networking sites such as MySpace
  • not to have any contact with the victim
  • not to have any contact with each other
  • not to talk to the media

All of them will be tried as adults.

    That is a lot of money… so who stumped it up?

    (I had a case where the bail was a lot less (the offence was not violence but the amount of money swindled was huge.. millions! they paid and flitted))

    Lets hope that these awful people don’t flit and stay to face the music for the ill that they did

    Usually the way it works is that they have to put 10% of the bail down. Then if the person flees, they have to pay the rest.

    I’m betting there’s 8 sets of parents that had to cough up between $3,000 and $3,700 each to get their kids out of jail.

    If they don’t pay the 10% down, the kid has to stay in detention until the trial.

    With their faces all over the internet, I don’t think there is anywhere they could hide… probably a good thing in this case.
