Which typos drive you crazy?

Published by linda at 10:03 pm under personal

I’m okay with “real” typos.  Like when you know how to spell the word, but your fingers get crossed. You know - the keyboard gremlin kind. Then there’s the kind that drive me bonkers.

  • You instead of your.
Like “put you mouse on the link”  Nooooo. It’s put YOUR, not put you….

This is probably my biggest pet peeve.  Drumroll….

  • Loose instead of lose.
Like “if you’re not careful, you could loose your money.”  *sigh*

So…. is it just me?  Or, which typos drive YOU nuts?

EEEE GADS! My head is spinning. I confess that I frequently seem to type “your” where I meant to type just “you” without the “r”. Naturally the spell-checker does not twig to it because both are words.

I became visually challenged following a car accident and I have cringed on many occasions after I have clicked submit thinking that the text in a comment was fine and discovering once my vision clears that it isn’t. I have politely endured people telling me to preview first, as if I haven’t (ggrrrr!) when I have posted again requesting editing.

I’m also a perfectionist so this problem of mine is probably the best teacher of humility that anyone could ever have, I suppose …

OMG! Now I’m :-D)) because I see in the 1st sentence of the 2nd paragraph in my comment above and word the ought not to be there at all. Delete the 3rd word in that sentence please folks {redfaced}. I’m out of here. ;-)

LOL. Looks perfectly fine to me. ;-)

I had to laugh, because I tend to see what “should” be there instead of what is there. Especially at Fraccy’s blog. Man, I’m ALWAYS making typos there. Keyboard gremlins just wait for me at the fraccy blog. LOL.

And besides… YOUR typos don’t count, because we LIKE you. So there.

I put it down to my brain being faster than my fingers …… and I am sticking to it lol :-D

I never think a thing of it brightfeather! I notice myself doing this one a lot…

    jsut instead of just

I don’t know why, but it always happens. I correct it, but swear at myself for why I can’t break myself of it.

70s.. I always thought you were doing those to provide DP with a bit of excitement. I don’t think he gets all that much and I always just thought you were being generous. It’s a good story, and I’m sticking to it!

Ha… the use of ‘irregardless’ is my pet peeve. It’s NOT A WORD. And if it were it would be a double negative and totally illogical!

And the other is the use of ‘guesstimate’… hello? An estimate IS a guess. Again, it’s NOT A WORD.

    Misusing to/too, your/you’re and it’s/its.

There, that’s my list and I’m sticking to it. Although the last time I got on my high horse when I some co-workers and I were talking about proper pronunciation, I said, ‘I hate it when people mispromounce words.’ They all got a laugh out of that. Sheeeeesh. I had to laugh too. I couldn’t believe I mispronounced ‘mispronounce.’ lol

Now its time for your and you’re fraccy sis too fuel our blogs. Ack! :o\

I knew it. I knew there would be a typo in that. And yes, I did proof it. :D

  8. lindaon 13 Mar 2008 at 11:17 am

    LOL Jayleen.

Err… *I* say “guess-timate” all the time. I say it ’cause when I say “estimate” people want to know “what I’m basing that on.” Saying guesstimate answers that question before it’s asked. ;)
