Call it my Monday rant. Now it’s your turn. What’s your Monday rant?

Published by linda at 12:06 pm under personal

So, I was reading an eMarketer.com article about consumer choices and information overload.  It contained this morsel of brain candy…

Before the Internet ushered in the current era of niche marketing and long-tail tactics, media companies were much more invested in making decisions about content. Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite never asked their audiences to make programming choices for them.

These days, people expect to pick the winner in American Idol, choose among different endings for a movie and put their iPods on shuffle during long car rides.

But there is still value in empowering an expert field guide to filter out the noise and lead people toward informed choices.

The thing about the Internet is that it often offers a “best and worst of” scenario.

Take email for example. Snail mail takes weeks to get a letter to my sis in Australia. With email, I can reach her in the blink of an eye. With email also comes spam, scams and porn sent to your email or even your kids’ email.

Best and worst of… side by side.

Same thing with ‘experts’ that help uninformed consumers make informed decisions. Some of them actually do.

But there’s a lot of self proclaimed “experts” who change their “professional recommendations” as often as most people change their socks. Usually based on what’s paying the best commission.

And you thought it was just ’stuff’ that gets sold online? Nope. When the price is right, ethics and reputation are sold daily, too. Somtimes that price is amazingly low.

Call it my Monday rant. Now it’s your turn. What’s your Monday rant?

My Monday rant is reading through some work my technicians had done for my seal of approval before publishing * we are on a keen dead line….. quite frankly it was absolute / complete rubbish!!
A day of squirming and lame excuses to come tomorrow!!

Oh I feel much better now!! Thank you for posting this :-)

Rubbish is a good rant. I rant about shoddy work a lot. It’s a pet peeve of mine. I’m a ‘do a good job or don’t even bother‘ kind of person. The only thing I hate more than poor quality work is the excuses for it. LOL. Are you sure we’re not related?

Umm… you are. 70s is my sis and covern mate, so since you are also my sis, she must be yours too.

    lol

Fraccy… um… so… how many additional sisters have you adopted?

70s… Err - sorry about that. I must have forgot. See, I adopt cats. My sis… she adopts sisters. Sisters don’t congregate in the kitchen meowling and waiting for the food bowls to be filled quite the way cats do, so I need reminding now and again.

(I only have one cat right now. I forgot to get more. lol. )

yep we are interweave/ covern related :-)

I have 2 cats and a puppy so my kitchen is a death trap of smaller than me creatures who seem to constantly want food (I feed the cats and the puppy hassles them until they leave, so she can eat it… it is the food they once would have gone back too … then the cats come back to hassle me for more… it is a mental constant feeding stream which drives me nuts!!) lol

Well, so far there’s Olga (she’s such a suppportive sister), Jayleen, JD from Idothings and bluepaintred. Oh, I think I dubbed CG Betty too. I hope I haven’t forgotten someone I dubbed, but if I did I’m going to plead old age.

I’m not into pets, so I prefer to collect sisters. Most of the time, there’s no litter box to clean that way. ;-)
