Zellers recalls baby sleepers with lead paint on buttons

Published by linda at 9:12 pm under news

cherokeebaby.jpgJanuary 28, 2008.  Zellers has recalled their “Cherokee Baby” short-sleeved, striped,  two piece baby sleeper and bootie set because the buttons on the sleepers contain lead.

Lead paint can harm the nervous system, kidneys and other major organs and can cause damage to the nervous system that may impair mental function.

In a news release, HBC said that the sleepers, which were made in India, were different from the ones originally ordered. Once they realized what happened, they issued a consumer alert. Anyone who purchased the sleepers are asked to return them to the place of purchase.

The sets were available in sizes 0 through to 12 months and were sold across Canada in January 2008.  Please pass this on , especially if you have readers in Canada.

Thanks for this Linda. I just can’t believe how in other countries, there’s still such a glut of lead in the marketplace.

    Scary.
