Happy New Year! Resolutions?

Published by linda at 12:30 pm under personal

Happy New Year! Hope your celebration, or lack of one, was fun or relaxing or restful… and filled with all good.

So…. did you make any New Years’ Resolutions?

I don’t usually make New Years’ Resolutions. I’m usually the typical anti-resolution person. But this year I made one. Just one.

This year I made a resolution — that through the year, when I have goals I’m striving for, I will come up with reasonable steps that don’t set me up to feel like a failure.

You know what I mean?  For example, the people that make a resolution to go on a strict diet immediately.  And then the minute they “slip” they feel like they failed.  How much more empowering it would be to make a resolution to make better food choices as often as they can handle.  And you know what?  I truly believe that as days turn to weeks, and weeks to months, the “as often as they can handle” would become more and more frequent.

So this year, I’m setting myself up…. to succeed at whatever I put my hand to by not being unreasonable with myself. It seemed like a good resolution.

What about you?  Made any resolutions?  :)

Nope. I don’t make them at all.

See, my fraccy logic tells me that just because it’s a new calendar year doesn’t mean it’s really a new year. Why make a resolution now? I mean, my birthday is actualy the start of a new year for me, so why haven’t we been trained to make a resolution then?

I just like being difficult. ;-)

And honestly.. I don’t make them. Can’t even remember when I ever did or if I ever did.

See.. I never fail. No wonder I’m always so pleased with myself. LOL.

just because it’s a new calendar year doesn’t mean it’s really a new year

Well… when I see an “8″ on the calendar where the “7″ used to be, I think it’s a new year. At my age, I kind of like feeling like I’m getting a new start on *something* even if it’s just a number on paper. lol

My new year resolution was not to make a resolution. ;-)

    Hi Linda,

No, I don’t make resolutions. I just try to keep making changes, and hopefully life and situations improve. :)

Anyway, I was wondering if you got my information (snail mail) for the candles? I sent an e-mail to you about it, but I didn’t hear back from you…so, maybe you didn’t get it?

Just curious. Let me know if you need it.

    Thanks again!
