Toronto Snowstorm - Oh the weather outside is frightful…
So we made the National News. This part of Ontario is known as the “banana belt” — the part that winter almost seems to bypass. My first winter here, I didn’t need a parka or boots and got through winter in a fall jacket and shoes. Not this year.

From Google New:
A major snowstorm tore through eastern Canada and northeastern United States Sunday killing at least one person, making driving conditions treacherous and forcing airports to cancel numerous flights. Southern Ontario and Quebec provinces took the brunt of the bad weather, with Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal struggling under 40 centimeters (16 inches) of snow, as the storm continued unabated late Sunday.

There have been 800 accidents in the GTA so far. A woman (from my city) had been parked where there’s an underpass and her car was covered in snow. She got out of the car to clean the front window and was run over by a snowplow while her two little girls watched inside the van. So horrible there are just no words….

From Google News
“It’s a big one, a dangerous one,” Environment Canada climatologist Dave Phillips told CTV Newsnet on Sunday. “Just because you have this one storm doesn’t mean we’re into the winter from hell, but my gosh, it’s certainly started that way,” he added.

what I love about snow is the quietness that goes with it, magical!…I can’t imagine us being ever prepared for this though!
Heyyy, Sylvie! Good to see you! (hugs)
It is like that in the province where Fraccy lives. Beautiful and peaceful. I particularly love when the trees freeze and look like something out of a fairy tale, and one expects to see jack frost or the ice queen out of the corner of your eye.
Here in the GTA, it’s just dirty and very, very cold. It’s so big (2.5 million people) that the anonymity makes people get cold inside, too, not just outside.
Like, the news story of a Mother getting out of her van to clear the snow off her window because she couldn’t see and getting run over and killed by a snow plow that couldn’t see her because of zero visibility — and the response from people on the street is “well, she should have know better than to get out of the van” It makes me sad.
Cold on the outside I can take. Cold on the inside I’ll never get used to. I’m a small town girl at heart.
My daughter is happy because it’s going to be a white christmas this year. We don’t get too many of those here. usually we don’t get snow that stays until January.
Silver linings…. I can cool my Christmas baking on the deck and don’t need to worry about enough room in the fridge. lol
hey i didn’t know we lived so close…. hee hee, hamilton did not get as much as To , but we did get enough that is for sure….great pics by the way
I hope you have your Christmas shopping done LOL!
Thank you so much Linda for fueling me while I have been sick. You’re a true friend girl!
Light the fire place! I’ll be right there…..
Hugs!
Yea this was the storm that hit me too. Only got about ten inches (only) but trying to dig the car out of the snow after the snow plows blocked it in was a drag. Living in a condo I don’t even have a shovel so I used part of my ice scraper. I’m still sore. I guess it was a good work out.
This winter has given people the opportunity to do random acts of kindness. I have seen many people walking and talking more. Also how many have help another get a car out of the snow.
Snow storms are great ice breakes. The last time we had snow like this was 98-99 that was an excellent winter.
