Bone to pick with Blogger - I can’t post comments to blogger blogs
I have a bone to pick with Blogger.com. I have found two great blogs, hosted on blogger.com, that I wanted to post a comment to. And I couldn’t. Why? Because posting a comment requires me to log in with my Google account.
What if I don’t *want* to log in with my Google account? Huh? What then? Well then, I can’t post a comment. Simple as that. They *could* just give an email and url box, like other blogs do. But nooooo….. that’s now how they do it. Log in or lump it.
I’m just glad *I* don’t use blogger. Because if a lot of my posts had “0 Comments” I’d have to wonder if it’s because Google makes people log in with their Google account in order to leave a comment.
Unless, of course, I’m living under a rock and I’m the only one this happens to. *sigh*

As far as I know blogspot, the author is the one deciding if you need to comment using a google account or not.
Hmmm… I wonder if they know that. You think?
Doesn’t seem to make sense to block out anyone that doesn’t want to log in with Google. Like all us wordpress folks, for example. Makes me wonder if they realize it.
Beats me. *shrugs*
Hi Linda. Linky’s right. The blogger blog owner decides and has the option to impose that or not. Some people do it because they want their comments and readers to be people they “know” and don’t care about other bloggers… others do it because they’ve been harassed or threatened via their blogs and are trying to have more control of that. Then… there are those who do it and I don’t understand why…. particularly if they’ve signed up at directories trying to get more readers and traffic. That’s an lol for sure.
Why don’t you add the urls of those blogs to this post, they’ll get a trackback and get to read about how their choice affects their readership.
Well, golly, I’ll have to add a note in my votes this evening to let them know. Cause some of them are trying to promote their blogs, but have comments closed to anyone unless they have a google login. Yoiks.
No, this is showing up on every Blogger blog I go to today. I just posted about it!

I did try to post to your blog. And two others, too. But it’s not *you*
It’s that blogger.com won’t accept comments unless the commenter has a Google login now. Which kind of sucks.
