37% don’t know what phishing is?

So I went to my online banking today and noticed they had a simple quiz about phishing. I took the quiz because I wanted to see the results. Almost 38% of people don’t even know what phishing is, and over 22% don’t know what to do about it. Those results horrify me.
I am super careful. I know how to spot a phishing scam. I only use my debit card in 2 places (bank and grocery store) — and *I* have had my card compromised and account cleaned out. If they can get someone like me, what can they do to those people who don’t even know what phishing IS? It’s truly horrifying.

What’s funnier? Bank of America recently contracted with a third party to do survey’s for them, and the surveyor is contacting people through email! This from the same people that tell you to send them copies of phishmail.
So they’re sending bac’n to tell you not to order spam?
Too funny.
Our solution to protect ourselves is that we have tow accounts. And we keep a minimum amount of money in the account we use online or at ATM’s and such. We keep our main account closed up tight. Thanks for this information!!
That’s a really smart idea, Shinade. I think I need to do that, too.
I also think every bank and finance related website (paypal, ebay, etc) should have HUGE text on their main page saying “We will never email you a link to log in. If you get a link to log in, it’s not from us, it’s from someone trying to hack your account.” LOL.
Maybe then the people that don’t know what phishing is would start to learn…
Crazy spammers. Akismet missed another one.
